Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia causes, symptoms, treatment

Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia is chronic malignant lymphoproliferative disorder which is a type of non Hodgkin lymphoma. It is characterized by elevated blood viscosity due to increases immunoglobulin M (IgM) and bone marrow lymphocytic infiltrates. The clinical picture of Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia is similar to that of multiple myeloma with the exception of increased organomegaly and decreased incidence of lytic bone disease and renal disease. It is also known as lymphocytic lymphoma or immunocytom and occurs in less than 2% of patients mostly elderly.

Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia Epidemiology:

It is a fairly uncommon disease and account for only 2% of all hematological malignancies. Incidence rate is higher in white people then in blacks mostly presenting in seventh of eight decade of life with male predominance.

Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia Causes:

Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia Causes is uncontrolled proliferation of differentiated B lymphocytes. The underlining cause is not yet knows but mutation in chromosome 6 is expected. Environmental, genetic, familial and viral factors are established as a cause. Predisposing risk factor are autoimmune diseases, hepatitis, HIV and rickettsiosis.

Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia Symptoms:

Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia Symptoms are caused due to elevated levels of IgM which include epistaxis, headache, dizziness, blurring and loss of vision, tiredness, night sweats, pain and numbness in extremities, hepatomegaly, spleenomegaly, and lymphadenomathy.

Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia Diagnosis:

Diagnosis is done on the basis of blood CP, urine DR and bone marrow biopsy. The family history of Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia or another lymphoproliferative is usually present.

Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia Treatment:

There is no permanent Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia Treatment but plasmapheresis can be done to remove unwanted IgM from the blood. Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia herbal product is very effective in the treatment of this disease as it is composed of totally natural products it not only treats the symptoms but also treat the underlining cause. This herbal product markedly reduces IgM. Other treatments also cause relapse of Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia but this herbal product does not.

Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia Complications:

It can lead to many complications such as hyper viscosity syndrome, visual disturbances, diarrhea and mal absorption, amyloidosis, bleeding problems due to defective platelet function and coagulation factor, Reynaud phenomenon, increased infections, cardiac failure and leukemias.

Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia Prognosis:

Different tests to determine the prognosis are done. Patients with nodular involvement show better prognosis than those with diffuse involvement. An average survival rate is 6-7 years. Infections, cardiac failure, renal failure, stroke and GI bleeding are usually the end stage event which leads to death. Prognosis is poor if patient’s age is above 65 years.
